Professor Gilda Varricchi is Associate Professor of Internal Medicine at the Department of Translational Medical Sciences of the University of Naples Federico II, Italy.
Professor Varricchi conducts translational research on the pathogenesis of bronchial asthma and allergic diseases, including the roles of eosinophils, basophils, mast cells, macrophages and specific cytokines in allergic disorders and severe eosinophilic asthma.
In addition to delivering numerous invited lectures and training courses, Professor Varricchi is Co-Director of the World Allergy Organisation Centre of Excellence and Vice-Director of the Centre for Basic and Clinical Immunology (CISI) of the University of Naples Federico II. She is a member of the World Allergy Organization (WAO) Biologic Therapies in Allergic Diseases Committee. She is also member of the Collegium Internationale Allergologicum (CIA), the Italian Society of Allergy, Asthma and Clinical Immunology (SIAAIC), the Italian Society of Internal Medicine (SIMI), the Junior Members Assembly of the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (EAACI), a member of the board of the Allergy Diagnosis Interest Group of EAACI and president of the Task Force on Biomarkers in Asthma and Allergy at the Italian Society of Allergy, Asthma and Clinical Immunology.
